James Jean Art & Designs

I recently discovered one of my new favorite artists via Instagram, James Jean. He’s a Taiwanese American artist who has been showcasing his art in galleries and winning prestigious awards for his work since 2000.

He can mold multiple mediums; from drawing to painting to digital and cover art. Here are a few of his illustrations with ink and paper. His illustrations seem like a crazy acid trip... And I mean that in the best way possible. I enjoy seeing the random characters and colors, each one thoughtfully and intricately placed among the paper.

 His art makes me feel like I’m in a dream, sometimes another realm, his characters are so life-like that you can relate to the emotions drawn, his art makes one feel as if the thoughts in his head are oozing onto the mediums he morphs. And it is amazing. I especially like the continuing theme of nature; animals, plants and humans. You really have to look closely to take every detail in.

Some of his special projects include wallpaper and fabric prints for Prada’s S/S 2008 collection and an animated film, Trembled Blossoms.

He has worked with other mediums such as metals for jewelry as well. Truly a talented artist who is in tune with his creativity.
